The ocean carrier attributed the reduction in its carbon dioxide emissions primarily to improvements in operational efficiency, fleet and voyage optimization, technical improvements, as well as more fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly vessels.
Ocean carrier APL’s carbon dioxide emissions were 45.5% lower in 2015 than they were in 2009, the company said in a statement.
The company’s carbon dioxide emissions data was verified by Lloyd’s Register Group according to the CCWG verification protocol and ISO14064-3:2006 standard.
APL said it was the highest carbon dioxide emissions reduction for the company in the last six years. It attributed the reduction primarily to improvements in operational efficiency, fleet and voyage optimization, technical improvements, as well as more fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly vessels.
In addition to its vessel performance management, APL has a dedicated maintenance program aimed at using data analysis to optimize ship performance and minimize environmental impact.
