New CEO for Ceres as Kritikos steps down
Ceres Terminals Inc., the U.S. terminal operating company owned by Nippon Yusen Kaisha, has appointed Thomas J. Simmers as president and chief executive officer, effective Nov. 12.
He succeeds Christos N. Kritikos, the founder of Ceres, who will become an advisor to the company.
Simmers was most recently executive vice president of sales and marketing with Ceres Terminals Inc. He will be based in the company’s Weehawken, N.J., headquarters.
Ceres Terminals Inc. was established by Christos Kritikos in the Great Lakes in 1958, and has grown to encompass operations in 12 ports in the U.S. and Canada. The company was acquired by NYK Line in October 2002.
