MSC SWITCHED U.K. PORT CALL ON EAST COAST SOUTH AMERICA SERVICE

MSC SWITCHES U.K. PORT CALL ON EAST COAST SOUTH AMERICA SERVICE

Mediterranean Shipping Co. is switching from Felixstowe to Tilbury on its weekly North Europe/Canary Islands/East Coast South America service.

The first call at Tilbury will be made by “MSC Maria Laura” on Dec. 17. A spokesman for MSC said that the change was “prompted by our requirement to ease congestion at Felixstowe. Productivity and commercial implications of this change will be closely monitored but these trades will remain in Tilbury for the foreseeable future”.

The service uses seven ships averaging just under 3,000 TEUs and has a revised port rotation of Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Tilbury, Le Havre, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas, Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Sao Francisco do Sul, Santos, Rio de Janeiro, Vitoria, Palmas, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Tilbury and Le Havre.
