SCHENKER AND SEINO TRANSPORTATION FORM ALLIANCE

   Schenker, the German forwarding and logistics group, and
Japan’s Seino Transportation Co. Ltd. group have formed a strategic alliance to cooperate
in logistics and freight forwarding.
    Seino’s President Yoshikazu Taguchi signed the alliance agreement with
Bernd Malmstroem, chairman of the board of Schenker.
    Schenker and Seino will cooperate on a global basis and will establish
a joint venture for integrated logistics in Japan by the end of this year. Operations will
start in January.
    Also effective Jan. 1, Seino will appoint Schenker as sole agent for
logistics and freight forwarding in Europe.
    The Seino Transportation group, a major transportation and logistics
provider in Japan, has annual sales of $5.6 billion and 28,000 employees.
    Schenker, part of the Stinnes group, employs 28,500 and has annual
sales of about DM10.5 billion ($5.6 billion).
