U.S. nominates Voss as ICAO chief
The United States has submitted the name of former Federal Aviation Administration official William Voss to serve as secretary-general of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
ICAO, based in Montreal, is a United Nations organization responsible for coordinating aviation safety and technical standards for nearly 200 member countries.
Voss serves as director of ICAO’s Air Navigation Bureau, responsible for issues such as aircraft certification and airport standards, aviation communication, navigation, surveillance, and medical requirements.
Voss held several positions within the FAA’s air traffic control organization.
ICAO members will vote in March for a new secretary-general to serve a three-year term.
