PORT OF LOS ANGELES CARGO UP 3% IN AUGUST
The Port of Los Angeles moved 477,059 TEUs in August this year compared to 464,044 TEUs in August 2001 for an increase of 3 percent.
In August, imported cargo totaled 252,137 TEUs, as compared to last year, a 7-percent increase. Exports totaled 252,137 TEUs an increase of 1 percent over last year. Empty container movements decreased almost 3 percent to 141,177 TEUs.
The Port’s calendar year total to date of 3,310,651 TEUs is a 4 percent increase over last year.
