Logistics executives join ARC collaboration group

   Over 20 logistics executives from companies in consumer packaged goods, process and third-party logistics have joined a collaborative group organized by ARC Advisory Group, the Denham, Mass.-based consulting firm.

   ARC said that the “logistics executive council” is a “member-driven service” that serves as a medium for collaboration, benchmarking and best practice research for logistics and supply chain executives.

   “In speaking and working with logistics and supply chain executives, it's clear that they're all interested in obtaining benchmarking and best practices information, but they don't have the means to do it effectively or cost-efficiently,” said Adrian Gonzalez, service director for the industry group.

   Members of the “logistics executive council” receive monthly and quarterly reports based on the research agenda that they define and participate in. The agenda includes topics such as:

   * The state of radio-frequency identification technology and adoption;

   * Best practices in performance management;

   * Best practices in implementing an order-to-cash initiative;

   * Outsourcing and managing 3PLs;

   * UCCnet, vendor-managed inventory and collaborative planning, forecasting and replenishment (CPFR);

   * China;

   * And the impact of trade security on supply chain management.

   ARC is currently working with council members to update the research agenda for 2004. ARC said that it will be presenting the initiative at the Council of Logistics Management annual conference being held in Chicago on    Sept. 21-24.
