Schneider commences Baltimore ramp service

The new inbound and outbound intermodal ramp service, which connects Baltimore directly with 10 U.S. ramps and two in Mexico, will decrease overall transit times by two days, according to the trucking and intermodal logistics company.

Green Bay, Wis.-based Schneider National, Inc. has commenced a new inbound and outbound intermodal ramp service to Baltimore, the trucking and intermodal and logistics company said in a statement.
The Baltimore ramp creates additional Mid-Atlantic southbound/northbound lanes connecting Baltimore directly to 10 U.S. ramps and two Mexico ramps, including in Chicago, Ill.; Jacksonville, Fla.; Seattle, Wash.; Los Angeles, Calif.; St. Louis, Mo.; Monterrey, Mexico. In bypassing Philadelphia and Portsmouth, N.H., the ramp will improve transit times by up to two days, according to Schneider.
The additional Mid-Atlantic lanes join the Transcontinental, Easter Core, Express and Cross-border services Schneider provides throughout North America.
“We saw a need for increased capacity and more efficient options in the Mid-Atlantic region,” said Jim Filter, senior vice president and general manager of Schneider Intermodal. “Adding the Baltimore ramp to our already extensive network helps meet that demand as we continue to provide shippers with cost-effective, reliable and efficient shipping services.”
