LIBRA LINES, CSAV SEEK FMC CLEARANCE FOR JOINT U.S./BRAZIL SERVICE
Brazil’s Companhia Libra de Navegacion (Libra Lines) and Chile’s Compania Sud American de Vapores, S.A. (CSAV Lines) are requesting the U.S. Federal Maritime Commission’s green light to establish a joint service in the U.S. Atlantic/Brazil trade. Libra Lines is owned by CSAV.
The service will be operated under the trade name Braztrans Lines or Braztrans Joint Service, pending FMC clearance.
The parties will share all costs and expenses, profits and losses of the joint service.
Among other things, the carriers would be allowed to acquire, deploy, operate and utilize vessels in the trade, and establish sailing schedules, service frequency, ports and points to be served.
' The carriers would also be permitted to add or withdraw capacity from the trade.
The parties may set and maintain its own rates, charges, tariffs, service contracts, practices and conditions of carriage in the trade
