NYK SAYS READY FOR YEAR 2000
NYK Line said that its systems and ships are ready for
the year 2000 date change.
The Japanese group started to review its year 2000 compliance in 1996,
a program that is projected to have cost about $5.6 million, excluding scheduled system
upgrading.
NYK said that it has tried to assess whether its vendors, such as
agents, container terminals, computer vendors, were also year 2000 compliant. But NYK
"regretfully, could not confirm the compliance of suppliers in some regions."
"In these instances, we have replaced or are in the process of
replacing their services," the Japanese group said.
NYK has about 5,000 vendors worldwide.
