TEEKAY SHIPPING SIGNS CONTRACT WITH SEASUPPLIER
SeaSupplier Ltd., the marine electronic procurement subsidiary of Stolt-Nielsen S.A., has signed a multi-year contract with Bahamas-based Teekay Shipping to connect the crude oil tanker operator's procurement systems with its suppliers.
SeaSupplier's SeaConnect solution will provide Teekay with a common e-procurement platform, which will improve and standardize contract usage, rationalize product databases and automate connectivity to suppliers worldwide. Teekay's system will be able to use multiple communications formats, including electronic data interchange (EDI), EFACT, flat files, extensible markup language (XML) and MTML.
SupplierExpress will allow Teekay suppliers to connect through a Web browser, and SupplierConnect will allow them to connect their back-end sales and order fulfillment systems through automated links.
SeaSupplier was formed in June through a combination of PrimeSupplier and OneSea.com. Its investors operate more than 1,200 ships.
