CONGRESS TO PRESENT PROPOSALS FOR ARMY CORPS PROJECTS
Members of Congress are expected to present their proposals for Army Corps of Engineers projects to the House Water Resources and Environmental Subcommittee on April 17.
These proposals will be considered for the Water Resources Development Act, which the subcommittee reviews about every two years. This legislation contains project authorizations, modifications and deauthorizations, program revisions and policy initiatives, and related Corps activities.
Currently, the Corps maintains more than 11,000 miles of channel for commercial navigation and operates 230 lock sites nationwide. The Corps also maintains 300 deep commercial harbors and 600 shallow coastal and inland harbors.
