DUNWOODY TAKES COMMAND OF MTMC

Maj. Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody has officially taken command of the U.S. Military Traffic Management Command.

She replaced Maj. Gen. Kenneth R. Privratsky, who during his tenure initiated a highly regarded modernization agenda for the military’s surface transportation logistics unit.

MTMC has a worldwide operations center based at Fort Eustis, Va., and 24 port terminal units stationed around the world. Dunwoody takes command of an agency that’s heavily engaged in the war against terrorism. MTMC is also preparing for possible intervention in Iraq.

“One of the reasons I’m proud to be here is because MTMC supports the warfighter every day,” Dunwoody said during the change of command ceremony at Fort Myers, Va. on Oct. 17.

Dunwoody spent 10 of the past 14 years in the Army’s key ready-reaction force of the XVIII Airborne Corps. During her most recent assignment, she was commanding general of the 1st Corps Support Command (Airborne) at Fort Bragg, N.C. Her unit provided support to Army units deployed in Afghanistan.
