Port Canaveral reports record revenues
Port Canaveral Wednesday reported it has passed the $50 million threshold for total revenues for the first time for fiscal year 2006.
The port said it set records in several categories: overall revenue, operating revenue, cruise revenue, cargo revenue, multi-day cruise passengers, and cargo tonnage.
'This banner year has been the result of the hard work of the port authority staff and the leadership of port authority commissioners, as well as the contributions of the entire maritime community here at Port Canaveral,' said Canaveral Port Authority CEO J. Stanley 'Stan' Payne.
Putting the revenue gains in context, the port said that last year total revenues reached $44.6 million, while a decade ago revenues were $18.1 million.
