European intermodal operators Intercontainer-Interfrigo of Basel and IFB Inter Ferry Boats of Antwerp said they will cooperate to develop and improve the unaccompanied railroad combined transport on the Belgium/Germany/Austria/southeastern Europe-Turkey corridor.

In March they will offer a new connection from Antwerp to the Sopron hub in Hungary with stops in Cologne and Vienna. Those stops enable the operators to serve customers in Germany and Austria and to connect to the ICF network towards Scandinavia.

In February, the companies began a service between Genk in Belgium and Oradea in Romania where units can also be directed to regions of Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest or the Balkans.

The ICF hub in Sopron will also permit IFB to serve the whole southeastern Europe and Turkey.
