YOSHITANI APPOINTED EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR PORT OF OAKLAND
The Port of Oakland’s Board of Port Commissioners has appointed Tay Yoshitani to executive director, replacing Charles W. Foster, who announced his resignation on June 28.
Yoshitani has spent the past three years as Oakland’s deputy executive director where he oversaw the port’s three revenue divisions: aviation, maritime and commercial real estate.
“He has the experience, knowledge and skills to provide the port with a continuity in vision and leadership critical during this period of unprecedented expansion,” said Phil Tagami, board president.
Prior to joining the Port of Oakland, Yoshitani served as executive director for the Maryland Port Administration from 1995 to 1998 and as deputy executive director of the Port of Los Angeles from 1989 to 1995.
Yoshitani was also being considered for the top executive position at the Port of Portland, but he withdrew from the opportunity after accepting the appointment at the Port Oakland.
