IATA reports slow air cargo volumes in March
World air cargo traffic slowed to 0.8 percent in March, when measured in
freight-ton kilometers, according to the latest monthly statistics of
Geneva-based International Air Transport Association.
"While it is too early to identify a slowing trend in freight
traffic, we need to watch this development closely over the coming months," said
Giovanni Bisignani, director general and chief executive officer of IATA.
The year-to-date figures show a 4.2 percent rise in freight ton
kilometers.
