Census seeks more wholesale manufacturing data
The Census Bureau is expanding the data in its Annual Trade Survey to include the economic activity of manufacturers’ sales branches and offices. Previously, Census only collected data for merchant wholesalers.
The extra set of data was requested by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, which measures sales and inventories for wholesale trade, in order to develop statistically sound reports on factors affecting national productivity, such as sales, inventories and operating expenses for wholesale trade.
