DANZAS REPORTS INCREASED WORLDWIDE MARKET SHARE

Danzas Group on Friday said it posted an increase in'its worldwide market share in airfreight exports to 6.2 percent in 2001, up from 2000’s number of 6 percent. Additionally, Danzas'was the regional leader in Europe with 10.3 percent of the market share, and in North America with 8.2 percent of the market share.

Danzas based its claims'on'figures recently provided by the International Air Transport Association and Cargo Network Services.

As a result of the global economic downturn, and the switch from gross to net turnover reporting in Japan, IATA’s aggregate freight turnover figures for Japan dropped by about 22 percent in 2001 to $20.04 billion.

With sales of $1.2371 billion (previous year $1.5501 billion), Danzas showed “a much smaller decline” than the market as a whole,'Danzas said.

“We did very well in a difficult market,” said Renato Chiavi, chief executive officer of Danzas Group. “”Our worldwide network, which combines airfreight and with ocean freight and overland transport, and our services have been successful.”

Danzas added that the half-year results for the entire Danzas groups were gratifying, based on EBITA (that earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization), which rose by 8.1 percent to 80 million euros. Additionally, total sales of 4.4 billion euros are lower than in comparison to last year’s first half, by 5.8 percent.

'Based in Bazel, Switzerland, Danzas belongs to Deutsche Post World Net.
