TRUCK-PROCESSING CENTER TO OPEN AT PEACE BRIDGE

TRUCK-PROCESSING CENTER TO OPEN AT PEACE BRIDGE

To relieve traffic congestion on the aging Peace Bridge, the Buffalo,
N.Y., and Fort Erie Public Bridge Authority will open a new
truck-processing center in early November.
The Commercial Vehicle Processing Center will be located on the Canadian side
of Peace Bridge to give truckers a place to stop and collect pre-arrival information
before being cleared through U.S. Customs.
The bridge authority said the center should reduce border-crossing
delays at the bridge that can reach up to three hours.
Truckers using the center will spend about 30 minutes there, while
truckers using automated Customs pre-clearance systems, such as Line
Release and Buffalo’s Pre-Arrival Processing System, may proceed across the bridge. Empty
trucks and those carrying in-transit goods will also bypass the center.
