DP World port takeover delayed
The U.K. court that tentatively authorized Thursday the $6.8 billion sale of British ports operator P&O to Dubai Ports World over the objections of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Eller & Co., has delayed its final decision until today, so it can hear an appeal from Eller, P&O announced.
Eller is a P&O partner in a terminal in Miami and claims it could be harmed if DP World takes over the other half of the joint venture and then has to shut down operations if U.S. regulators deny it permission to operate in the country.
