Cruise crewmembers killed in hazmat accident in Port of L.A.
Three workers were killed in a docked cruise ship at the Port of Los Angeles Friday when a five-gallon container of raw sewage spilled and released methane in the ship’s lower levels while the workers were performing routine maintenance on the ship’s propeller shaft, NBC reported.
Seventeen other workers were hospitalized, including seven in serious condition, but no passengers on the ship were hurt during the accident. U.S. Coast Guard inspectors completed their investigation in time for the ship to disembark on another cruise Friday night.
