SAINT LAWRENCE SEAWAY AGENCY RAISES CIVIL PENALTIES
The U.S. Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corp. has increased its civil penalties for violations from $27,500 to $31,625 per unlawful incident.
The federal agency has the power to raise its civil penalty amounts under the 1990 Federal Civil Penalties Inflation Adjustment Act.
The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corp. said the increase in the civil penalty amounts, effective immediately, was adjusted to inflation and “to maintain their deterrent value.” The last time the agency’s civil penalty amounts were increased occurred in 1996.
