APL LOGISTICS’ CEO STEPS DOWN
Dick Metzler will step down as chief executive officer of APL Logistics on Oct. 11, the company announced.
Metzler has run the logistics arm of the Singapore-based group Neptune Orient Lines since June 2000, when he was asked to build a high growth global supply chain services business. Metzler is now leaving the company.
APL Logistics, based in Oakland, Calif., specializes in global, end-to-end supply chain management. The logistics company has incurred financial losses.
Hans Hickler, group chief information officer of Neptune Orient Lines, will succeed Metzler as CEO of APL Logistics.
Flemming Jacobs, president and CEO of Neptune Orient Lines, said that Hickler’s managerial experience and his expertise as chief information officer “will be real strengths as he further builds this asset-light and information technology-focused business.”
Hickler will also, in the meantime, maintain oversight of the group’s IT activities. Day-to-day responsibilities for IT will remain with APL CIO Cindy Stoddard and APL Logistics CIO Mike Moore.
