GAC Shipping restructures alliance agreement

GAC-Adsteam, part of the GAC Shipping Global Agency Network, has restructured its three-year alliance agreement to boost port coverage and ship agency services in the Oceania region.

Effective Oct. 1, the trading name GAC-Adsteam will change to “GAC-Oceania Maritime Services” or “GAC-OMS”, Lars Peter Heisselberg, GAC group vice president of shipping services, said in a statement. The restructuring will see GAC-OMS focus on providing ship agency services for all types of dry bulk carriers, tankers and other tramp vessels in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and the Pacific islands.

The move is a direct result of the recent formation of Oceania Maritime Services — a joint venture between Adsteam’s Bulk Agency Division and Beaufort Shipping Agency, a trading division of P&O Maritime Services. The joint venture will leverage the combined expertise, resources and synergies between the two maritime companies.

Oceania Maritime Services, the largest shipping agency in Oceania, serving more than 80 ports in the region, will be part of the GAC Global Agency Network. GAC-OMS will manage the regional port activities from its Sydney headquarters.
