USCO LOGISTICS TO HANDLE REGIONAL CENTERS FOR JCPENNEY
USCO Logistics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kuehne & Nagel, has reached a long-term deal with JCPenney Co. Inc. to operate four regional 'store support centers' for the department store chain.
The centers, located in the Pacific Northwest, Mountain, Southeast and Midwest regions, will provide dedicated warehousing and pre-retailing services for boxed, hanged apparel and other products.
JCPenney said the facilities are part of a new distribution strategy that aims to move merchandise more efficiently from suppliers to stores.
USCO, whose customers include Wal-Mart, Target and Home Depot, provides specialized solutions including distribution of hard-line and soft-line merchandise to stores; distribution of non-merchandise store-support products, such as point-of-sale displays, packaging materials and signage; and 'overflow' warehousing and distribution of forward or opportunistic merchandising buys, seasonal build-ups and returns.
