Hong Kong’s Tsang to speak Sept. 17 in New York
Donald Tsang, chief secretary for administration, the government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, will speak and participate in a business seminar Sept. 17 at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York.
Tsang and other Hong Kong officials will discuss the Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement, an accord that China and Hong Kong signed June 29 under auspices of the World Trade Organization.
The accord is a free trade agreement for Hong Kong-based companies and their partners overseas. Companies of all nationalities that qualify under the accord “will have preferential access to China’s market,” Tsang’s office said in a statement.
Groups supporting the seminar include the Asia Society, the China Institute, the Committee of 100, and the National Committee on United States-China Relations.
