Homeland Security detains Chinese stowaways

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said a boarding party comprising U.S. Coast Guard and Bureau of Customs and Border Protection personnel found and took into custody five stowaways on the 'Pacific Dolphin,' a 620-foot bulk grain ship anchored in the Columbia River near Portland, Oregon.

The captain of the Liberian-flag vessel had called the Coast Guard Marine Safety Office in Portland and said he suspected his ship had stowaways on board.

Two crewmembers were also detained for questioning. All of those arrested, ranging in age from 22 to 40, are Chinese citizens.
