Fritz tapped as UP’s new CEO

Lance M. Fritz will serve as the Union Pacific Railroad’s new president and chief executive officer.

   Lance M. Fritz will serve as the Union Pacific Railroad’s new president and chief executive officer.
   He previously served as president and chief operating officer since Feb. 6 2014.
   Fritz succeeds John J. “Jack” Koraleski, who was named executive chairman.
   Fritz was UP’s executive vice president  for operations from 2010-2014, and previously served as vice president of labor relations. Prior to that, he was regional vice president for the southern region after serving as regional vice president of the northern region. He began his career with Union Pacific in marketing and sales as vice president and general manager for energy.
   Before joining Union Pacific, Fritz worked for major shippers such as Fiskars, Cooper Industries and General Electric.
   Koraleski was appointed president and CEO of UP in March 2012. He joined the railroad in 1972.
