COSCO ADDS CHANNELS FOR SHIPPER INQUIRIES
COSCO Container Lines, the liner arm of China Ocean Shipping Co., has
introduced Internet and other communication links to enable shippers to enquire about
their shipments and conduct transactions.
The Chinese carrier said that its eight "service commitments" to
the customer now include:
* An inquiry service on the Internet at http://www.coscon.com;
* The ability to receive tracking reports using the global positioning system for trucks
moving cargo in China;
* An electronic data interchange booking system for paperless booking;
* The assurance of year 2000 compliance;
* Online inquiries of updated schedules and ship tracking;
* Cargo tracking;
* A "green passage" premium service that guarantees schedule reliability,
accurate documentation, on-time cargo delivery, booked space, on-time transshipment and
smooth communication;
* And a free-phone inquiry and complaint line.
COSCO Container Lines said that shippers can reserve trucks equipped with global
positioning tracking in China.
