DENSO PICKS VASTERA TO MANAGE DOCUMENTS FOR IMPORTS
Denso International America Inc., a supplier of technology for the automotive industry and part of Japan-based Denso Corporation, has contracted with Vastera, Inc., a provider of trade solutions, to manage documents and statistics relating to components brought into North America from all over the world.
Vastera will provide accurate product classification, documentation, correct duty rates, and real-time shipment data. Such information “is critical to faster and more predictable Customs clearance times, and necessary to support customers’ just-in-time manufacturing operations,” said Michael Kummer, director of finance at Denso International America.
Vastera is based in Dulles, Va. Denso, worldwide, employs 87,000 people in 30 countries and had consolidated sales in 2001-02 of $18.1 billion'The company’s North American unit has'14,000 employees at 23 locations.
