SINGAPORE REGISTRY CUTS SHIP FEES BY HALF

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore has reduced vessel fees by 50 percent for the Singapore Registry of Ships.

In order to make the island-state’s registry more competitive, the agency cut ship registration fees to a maximum of S$50,000 ($28,700), down from a previous ceiling of S$100,000.

The Singapore Registry of Ships listed 3,335 vessels in 2000, the seventh-largest fleet in the world.
