U.S. SENATE COMMITTEES REORGANIZE
Sen. Ernest F. Hollings, D-S.C., will chair the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee.
Hollings, a long-time supporter of the maritime industry, replaces Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who now becomes ranking minority member of the committee.
Another industry supporter, Sen. John Breaux, D-La., is expected to chair the Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Subcommittee, replacing Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., who is slated to become the subcommittee’s ranking minority member.
