Whirlpool Corp. plans to move into a new 1.5 million-square-foot regional distribution center near Rickenbacker Airport in Columbus, Ohio, next fall.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the $75.5 million facility will be developed by Pizzuti Cos. and is part of a plan by Whirlpool to relocate to several new distribution centers after its $1.8 billion acquisition of Maytag Corp. in 2006. Pizzuti has built more than 5.2 million square feet of commercial space for Whirlpool across the country.

Penske Logistics said it will operate the distribution center.
