U.S./COLOMBIA CARRIER GROUP RAISES BUNKER SURCHARGES

   The Colombia Independent Carrier Agreement, a shipping lines’ group which consists of Frontier Liner Shipping, King Ocean and Seaboard Marine, has announced three successive increases in bunker surcharges in the trade between the U.S. and Colombia.

   On March 19, bunker charges will be raised to $60 per 20-foot container, $100 per 40-footer, $105 per 45-foot box and $3.50 per freight ton of less-than-containerload cargo.

   On April 2, the fuel surcharges will be $80 per 20-foot box, $130 per 40-footer, $135 per 45-foot container and $3.50 per LCL freight ton.

   Effective April 15, the surcharges will be increased again, to $105 per 20-foot unit, $180 per 40-footer and $200 per 45-foot container. The bunker charge for LCL cargoes will remain $3.50 per freight ton.
