Tauzin steps down from House committee
Rep. Billy Tauzin resigned as chairman of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee and said he will not seek re-election in the fall after 12 terms in the House, according to media reports.
The House Energy and Commerce Committee has legislative oversight of interstate and foreign commerce, among other areas. Agencies under its jurisdiction include the Department of Transportation.
Tauzin’s resignation as chairman is effective Feb. 16.
