REPORT: CHINA SHIPPING TARGETS 3.4 MILLION TEUS IN 2003
China Shipping Container Lines, the expansion-oriented Chinese container carrier, aims to carry about 3.4 million TEUs this year, Hong Kong-based publication The Standard reported.
The volume compares with China Shipping’s total shipments of about 2.8 million TEUs in 2002.
The Chinese state-owned carrier operates a fleet of more than 100 containerships with a total capacity of 170,000 TEUs. Its vessel capacity will increase to 200,000 TEUs by end of 2003 and reach 250,000 TEUs by 2005, The Standard quoted Li Kelin, president of China Shipping Group, as saying.
