U.S. CUSTOMS NAMES MANER CHIEF OF STAFF

U.S. Customs Commissioner Robert Bonner has named Andrew Maner, director of Customs’ Office of Trade Relations, to serve as his chief of staff.

Eula Walden will be acting director of Office of Trade Relations, until a search for Maner's replacement can be completed. Walden, who has served previously in this position, will continue to report to Maner.

Maner will advise Bonner on policy, security, trade and management issues, and will be responsible for managing day-to-day operations of the commissioner’s office.

Maner replaces David Cohen, who left this spring for personal reasons.

Prior to joining Customs, Maner was vice president of development and sales for ICG Commerce, an international supply chain services provider. Before that, he was a partner of Aligne Inc., a technology-consulting firm. Maner has also worked in international marketing and communications at the Chicago Board of Trade.

Maner served in the first Bush administration in both the White House office of advance and press office.
