China Ocean Shipping Co. has signed a contract with the Japanese
shipyard Kawasaki Heavy Industries confirming the previously-announced order of seven
5250-TEU containerships, with another three vessels on option.
The vessels will be delivered in 2001 and 2002, the Chinese company
said.
Two of the seven vessels will be subcontracted to the Chinese shipyard
Nantong Shipyard.
