U.S. Agriculture Department completes draft pest risk for citrus import from Peru
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service said it will post a draft pest risk study for citrus imports from Peru.
The United States currently does not import citrus from the South American country. If the pest risk is minimal, the United States may open its borders to Peruvian grown grapefruit, mandarin oranges or tangerines, sweet oranges and tangelo.
The draft report will be available on line at http://www.aphis.usda.gov/ppq. Industry may send Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service comments about the report until March 12.
