Kuehne + Nagel invests $46 million in Belgium, Spain facilities
Swiss forwarding and logistics services provider Kuehne + Nagel International AG said Monday it has invested 38.3 million euros ($46 million) constructing and renovating logistics facilities in Belgium and Spain.
Kuehne + Nagel said it will spend 30 million euros ($36 million) constructing a new 45,000-square-meter facility in the Flemish town of Geel. The site, located close to both Antwerp and Rotterdam ports, has the option to expand to 75,000 square meters. It is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2006, when Kuehne + Nagel Belgium’s contract logistics and overland departments, currently located at separate sites in Turnhout 20 kilometers to the north, will be brought together at the new location.
Construction has been completed on expansion of Kuehne + Nagel’s logistics terminal in Mejorada del Campo, close to Madrid in Spain. The expansion cost 8.3 million euros ($10 million). The facility now provides 27,500 square meters of warehouse space as well as offices.
