U-Freight’s ocean freight activities rebranded
International freight forwarding and logistics services group U-Freight has dropped its Comax brand to bring its international ocean freight forwarding activities under the single U-Ocean banner.
Last June, U-Freight bought a majority stake in Comax, a small Hong Kong-based logistics company specializing in ocean freight forwarding between China and the United States.
U-Freight has appointed two senior staff from Comax to lead U-Ocean on both sides of the Pacific. Terence Tsang has been appointed vice president of U-Ocean USA Corp. based in California, while Gary Jong becomes vice president of U-Ocean Ltd. in Hong Kong.
In the United States, U-Ocean is operational in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Miami, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle. In China, U-Ocean has locations in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Xiamen and Tianjin.
“We have made no secret of our desire to expand from our air freight forwarding roots to selectively develop ocean freight services as a way of further leveraging our strong positions in certain regional markets and business sectors,” said Simon Wong, U-Freight’s chief executive officer.
“Having successfully integrated the Comax Group into the U-Freight organization, the rebranding program will help us to add focus and build on the organic growth in ocean freight activities that has already been achieved by many of our offices around the world.”
