Crowley Maritime may acquire barge operator Yukon
Crowley Maritime Corp. said it is discussing with Northland Holdings Inc., a provider of tug and barge services in Alaska, the possible purchase all the stock or assets of Yukon Fuel Co. or Service Oil & Gas Inc., or both, as well as certain vessels and other assets used in Yukon’s fuel distribution business in Alaska.
Yukon Fuel Co, a sister company of Northland Services, delivers fuel and supplies by air and by barge to road-less and rail-less northern outposts of Alaska along the 2000-mile Yukon river system.
Crowley said it expects to pay about $72 million if the takeover is confirmed.
