Bush administration commits $100,000 in aid to North Korea
The Bush administration will provide $100,000 to the Red Cross to buy supplies for North Koreans left homeless by a devastating freight train explosion April 22.
The administration said in a statement April 26 that it’s prepared to send medical supplies and equipment, in addition to emergency medical personnel, to North Korea, if necessary.
“We provide all humanitarian aid in disasters based on need without regard to political issues,” the administration said. The United States is one of the largest providers of emergency food aid to North Korea.
