Hillwood to develop Jacksonville center
The Perot family’s Hillwood Group said Wednesday it has completed an agreement with the City of Jacksonville, Fla., to serve as master developer of an industrial and distribution park on 4,474 acres at Cecil Commerce Center, a portion of the former Naval Air Station Cecil Field.
In 2009, Hillwood won a competitive bid to become the developer of the site, which is located on Jacksonville’s west side at Interstate 10 and SR-23.
It is branding the development AllianceFlorida. The company opened AllianceTexas, a 17,000-acre master-planned, mixed-use community located in North Fort Worth, Texas, in 1988, and created another development, AllianceCalifornia at the former Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, Calif. in 2002.
Total build-out of AllianceFlorida is anticipated to be almost 34 million square feet primarily for distribution, warehousing, manufacturing, assembly and some supporting mixed uses.
The park is located 25 miles from the Port of Jacksonville’s Dames Point terminal, 12 miles from CSX’s intermodal facility, 13 miles from Norfolk Southern intermodal facility. It is adjacent to Cecil Field and 22 miles from Jacksonville International Airport.
