TOSHIBA CONTRACTS WITH NTE TO HOST PRIVATE NETWORK

Toshiba International Corp. has asked NTE, a provider of online logistics services, to develop a private network for Toshiba’s Industrial Division.

The deal follows completion of a first phase of Toshiba using a transportation exchange developed by Downers Grove, Ill.-based NTE.

Using its new TransTradeSM service, NTE will receive hundreds of Toshiba’s shipment tenders each month, and execute them according to Toshiba’s routing instructions. To transport the freight, Toshiba will use a combination of its core carriers and other carriers who are members of the NTE Public ExchangeSM, an online transportation community.

“Because tendering and execution are now automated, we can do in minutes what used to take hours,” said Al Fitzpatrick, director of customer service for Toshiba’s Industrial Division. “I still decide which carriers get what freight, but without the phone calls and paperwork.”
