Gulf Air to return to South Africa
Bahrain-based Gulf Air will start three non-stop flights per week between Bahrain and Johannesburg, effective Dec. 2.
The new route marks Gulf Air’s return to South Africa, after an absence of more than eight years, the airline said.
Operated by Airbus A330 aircraft, the Bahrain/Johannesburg will depart Bahrain on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, returning from Johannesburg on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
“The Middle East is becoming an important trade zone for South Africa. It holds great potential for South Africa as an export market, and serves as a potential strategic source of foreign direct investment,” said James Hogan, Gulf Air’s president and chief executive officer.
