KENT LINE UPGRADES CANADA/U.S./CARIBBEAN FLEET
Kent Line International Ltd. has introduced a new ship and improved port coverage in its Canada/U.S./Caribbean container service.
The Saint John, New Brunswick-based carrier took delivery of the 1,452-TEU Seaboard Toronto. The vessel joins Kent’s two containerships, the Kent Express and Kent Spirit in a joint service with Seaboard Marine.
“Her speed, gear and capacity ideally suit our Caribbean service,” said Graham Fraser, vice president of Kent Line. “She complements our existing tonnage and gives us the flexibility to enhance our port coverage.”
The Seaboard Toronto, built in 1993, replaces the Seaboard Canada. It will be part of a vessel rotation that includes Saint John, Miami, San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. John’s, Antigua; Bridgetown, Barbados; Pointe Lisas, Trinidad; Puerto Cabello, Venezuela; Rio Haina, Dominican Republic; Kingston, Jamaica; Philadelphia and back to Saint John.
