Hub subsidiary adds to drayage network
Comtrak Logistics, an intermodal shuttle and truckload carrier, has acquired key parts of Domestic Transport Inc., a Pacific, Wash.-based company that also executes short hauls of intermodal containers between ports, railheads and customer docks, parent company Hub Group said Monday.
The acquisition of the Seattle-area terminal gives Comtrak a drayage network of 25 terminals.
Domestic Transport was founded in 2005 with a single truck moving containers out of the ports of Seattle and Tacoma. The company now has 22 drivers and handles container deliveries throughout the Pacific Northwest.
Domestic Transport’s owners, Leon Borodyansky and Kirill Korchinsky, will continue with Comtrak Logistics. Borodyansky will be the terminal manager while Korchinsky will be the safety and recruiting manager for Comtrak’s newly formed Pacific Northwest Terminal.
The transaction reflects the growing trend of consolidation within the trucking sector that services ports and intermodal rail terminals.
Hub Group is a large broker of intermodal rail moves and provides a host of other transportation and logistics services in North America.
