NIT League creates security panel
The National Industrial Transportation League signaled the growing impact of security measures on corporate operations, saying it has created a new Select Committee on Security to help the organization develop positions and recommendations on existing or planned government security programs related to the movement of freight.
William L. O’Conner of UPS Supply Chain Solutions was appointed to chair the committee. O’Conner’s experience includes 10 years in the U.S. Customs Service.
Committee membership comprises the chairmen of the Air, Domestic Waterways, Rail, Highway, Ocean and Hazardous Materials transportation committees, as well as the Information Technology Advancement Committee. Each chairperson will appoint one other person from their respective committee to serve on the security panel.
